Tipp volunteers up for Red Cross Awards

The Cashel and Tipperary branches of the Irish Red Cross have earned multiple prestigious nominations in the national Irish Red Cross Volunteer Awards, , underscoring the dedication and hard work of its volunteers.

Brid Lyons, nominated for Unit Member of the Year, has been a backbone of the Cashel branch for the last 15 years. Her leadership as Unit Officer, Treasurer and Area Committee Chair has been pivotal in the branch’s success.

Another Cashel branch member Martin O’Keeffe is nominated for Instructor of the year where he has a strong track record od student qualifications and showed great dedication despite geographical challenges where he worked beyond his branch area.

Vanessa Murphy from the Tipperary branch has also been nominated for the Unit Member award where she has been a member for just over a year. Within this short space of time she has shown extraordinary commitment and participated in the emergency response during the Cork floods, completed her EMT qualification and contributed over 200 hours despite full time work and study.

Secretary General of the Irish Red Cross said: “All of these finalists from Tipperary are amazing individuals and contribute so much and a huge amount of their free time helping others in the public and out and about n their communities through their selfless work for the Irish Red Cross. They all deserve so much credit and we congratulate them for getting to the final stages of the Irish Red Cross Volunteer Awards.”
