Public urged to give blood
Demand for blood from Irish hospitals is rising month on month. Last month, demand for blood was up 8% over the corresponding period last year.
10,782 units of blood were required by Irish hospitals last month compared to 9,987 units required in October 2023.
The IBTS has an immediate need for blood donors, both old and new to attend these upcoming Tipperary Clinics.
As you may be aware, last month the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) issued a pre-amber alert to Irish hospitals urging them to conserve blood stocks.
Escalation to a full Amber-Alert could impact on scheduled hospital procedures which require blood product support.
