GAA's iconic Photo Book 'A Season of Sundays' returns
GAA President Jarlath Burns launches 28th edition of ‘A Season of Sundays’
The 28th edition of the iconic A Season of Sundays was officially launched ahead of the festive season by the GAA President, Jarlath Burns.
For 28 years, Sportsfile’s A Season of Sundays has been the definitive visual record of the GAA season. With a stunning collection of images, captured by Sportsfile’s award-winning photographers, A Season of Sundays manages to capture the magic of the GAA, the perfect gift for the GAA fans in your life this Christmas.
Sportsfile are once again very grateful for Forvis Mazars’ continued partnership on A Season of Sundays, as they enter their second year of sponsorship.
The 2024 edition, fronted by a battle between the Cork and Clare hurlers, captured by Dáire Brennan, portrays the highs and lows of an incredible GAA season with another insightful look back at the key moments throughout the year. From heartwarming community moments to the passionate fans, to the sheer joy as we see Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Jarlath Burns, embracing his son Jarly Óg following Armagh’s victory; A Season of Sundays captures the essence of the GAA.
Speaking at the launch, the book’s publisher and Sportsfile owner, Ray McManus, said; “As the GAA season fades, A Season of Sundays captures the year’s most unforgettable moments and gives fans the chance to relive the excitement. Even in our digital age, a single image can speak a thousand words, and A Season of Sundays proves that photography still holds the power to move us.”
“We’re extremely grateful to our talented team who capture these images, rain, hail or shine and I’d also like to extend my thanks to Alan Milton in the GAA who has penned wonderful captions that so perfectly summarise these moments. Thank you also to GAA President Jarlath Burns for being with us here this evening and to our sponsors, Forvis Mazars for their support, without which, the project would not be possible.”
Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns said, “A GAA calendar year would not be complete without the publication of another offering of the eagerly awaited pictorial journey that is ‘A Season of Sundays’ and I am glad to acknowledge this latest instalment.”
“Few see more GAA activity – both on and off the field – than Ray McManus and his team of Sportsfile photographers and this year’s edition in no way bucks that trend. The breadth and quality of the imagery captured is - as ever - of the highest standard and bookends another incredible year in the life of the Association. I would also like to acknowledge the support of Forvis Mazars without whom these projects would be infinitely more difficult.”
“I look forward to studying the book in the embers of the year before it all starts again and a special ‘mile buíochas’ to Ray for his focus and determination in publishing a wonderful book, year in, year out.”
Speaking at the launch, Forvis Mazars managing partner Tom O’Brien said, “As proud sponsors of A Season of Sundays, Forvis Mazars is delighted to celebrate once again the passion, drama and unforgettable moments that defined the 2024 GAA season.”
“Our relationship with the GAA spans decades and is rooted in a shared commitment to excellence, tradition and local community spirit which lies at the heart of both the GAA and our firm.”
“We would like to thank Ray and the team at Sportsfile, whose dedication to capturing the essence of the GAA season ensures that the highs, lows, and everything in between are preserved for future generations to enjoy.”
An ideal gift for any GAA fan, the book is available at bookstores nationwide and online at www.sportsfile.com and is priced at €29.95.
