Nenagh Neptune Swimmers impress at Aspiring Meet
At the recent Aspiring Champions meet in the University of Limerick, Nenagh Neptune’s swimmers executed many brilliant swims, some of them competing for the first time at this level. Swimmers in the senior squad brought home a delightful haul of 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
Mateusz Milaszewicz won a gold medal in his 50m Butterfly and a silver medal in 200m Butterfly, achieving PBs of -1.03 and -2.60 secs respectively in powerful swims.
Kevin Reddy won a bronze medal in 50m Butterfly, taking three seconds off his previous best time. He also took 17.85 secs off his previous 800m Freestyle time and forty seconds off his previous 200m Breaststroke time.
Ronan Fitzpatrick won a bronze medal in a very strong 200m Backstroke and had five PBs in his six swims including a four second PB in 200m Freestyle.
Sarah Gleeson won a gold medal in 400m Individual Medley in a magnificent swim resulting in a PB of -32.01 secs. Her swim in 100m Butterfly won her a silver medal and a PB of nearly nine seconds.
Rachel Quigley won a gold medal in 100m Breaststroke and a bronze medal in 200m Breaststroke in which she also took 1.69 secs off her previous time. She also achieved a near five second PB in her 100m Individual Medley.
Aiveen O’Brien obtained three PBs including 2.42 secs off her previous PB in 50m Butterfly and was placed within the top 10 in her four swims.
Amy Rose Goldswain finished in the top 10 in four of her swims and had a brilliant PB of -24.12 in 200m Backstroke and a thirty second PB in 400m Freestyle.
Anna Gleeson was placed in the top 10 in four of her swims and obtained 5 PBs including nearly seven seconds off her previous time in 100m Backstroke and -4.60 secs PB in her 50m Butterfly.
Completing the team of female swimmers from Nenagh Neptune were Natalie Griffin (3 PBs incl. -2.26 secs in her 100m Breaststroke), Meabh Glynn (3 PBs incl. almost 5 secs off her previous 100m Breaststroke time), Saoirse Haverty (2 PBs incl. over 5 secs off her previous 50m Freestyle time), Ciara Delaney (3 PBs one of which was 16 secs quicker than her previous 200m Individual Medley time) Aoibhe Hassett (placed within top 15 for 50m Breaststroke) and Ellen O’Meara (PBs of -2.72 in 200m Freestyle and -0.64 in 50m Breaststroke).
Bartosz Urbanik achieved five PBs and finished within top 20 in his six swims. His best PBs were -4.20 secs in 100m & -3.42 secs in 50m Backstroke. Conor Mullen had top 20 finishes in four swims and obtained a PB of -4.66 in a great 50m Butterfly swim. Aodán Mullen took -15.87 secs off his previous 200m Freestyle time and achieved two other PBs including -2.88 secs in 50m Breaststroke. Culann Hassett secured four PBs in six swims including -15.69 in 50m Freestyle and -4.49 secs in 100m Individual Medley. Oscar Hackett had a PB of -12.77 in 200m Freestyle and -4.93 secs in 50m Breaststroke. Liam Glynn had a PB of -14.32 secs in his 100m Freestyle swim and took 4.76 secs off his 100m Backstroke.
More PBs were secured by Jorge Marcalo (-15.47 in 50m Breaststroke and -7.37 in 50m Freestyle), Cormac Malone (-6.12 in 50m Butterfly and -6.92 in 100m Freestyle), Ben Parker (top 20 in his three swims including PB of nearly eight seconds in 100m Breaststroke), Cian Hanrahan (top 20 in all swims including 2.10 sec PB in 50m Freestyle), Oisin Haverty (-5.12 PB in 50m Freestyle & a four second PB in 50m Breaststroke), Oskar Koniuszek (top 20 finishes and -2.16 sec PB in 50m Breaststroke and one sec PB in 50m Freestyle) and Neil Marchand (-16.38 in 100m Freestyle). Fabian Gluszak completed the male swimming team with PBs in four swims including -11.61 secs in 100m Individual Medley and -7.55 secs in 50m Butterfly.
