Nenagh Town Park to expand
The purchase of a field adjoining the Nenagh Town Park beside the Leisure Centre at Dublin Road has paved the way for the expansion of the park.
In response to queries by Cllr Louise Morgan Walsh at the November meeting of the Nenagh Municipal District, the District Administrator, Rosemary Joyce, said the council had purchased a site situated across the river from the existing park.
The council was now intending to extended the public park. A long term aspiration might be to develop a new bridge to gain access to the additional space, but that would involve a substantial cost.
Ms Joyce said the council was looking at developing a walking loop around the park and to enhance the natural flora and fauna.
Talks were taking place with the council’s biodiversity officer to come up with a model that could be rolled out, including planting of native trees.
Cllr Morgan Walsh said the extension of the park would be great for the people of the town.
