Call made to introduce measures to tackle excessive speeding by drivers on the Ballygraigue Road, Nenagh.

Concern over speeding at Nenagh's Ballygraigue Road

A CALL to introduce raised platforms on the Ballygraigue Road in Nenagh to slow speeding traffic was made by Cllr Michael O’ Meara at the November meeting of the Nenagh Municipal District.

District Engineer Barry Murphy said putting down raised platforms would be the very last option the council would consider.

People working in the emergency services were opposed to such structures.

Mr Murphy said new speed limits due to come into force next year could result in a lowering of the speed limit on the road from 50 kilometres per hour to 30; this might help resolve the problem of speeding.
