Borrisoleigh Track-Attack launches busy calendar of events
Borrisoleigh Track-Attack laid out a new Fitness & Participation Plan at a launch night in the Sports Complex in the town last week.
With fifteen new sponsors on board, it is the club’s plan to promote several new events with a view to encouraging people of all ages from the local and surrounding areas to get out and get active in a fun, friendly and sporting environment.
Fitness and participation levels in sporting and recreational activities amongst people of all ages is becoming a hugely important aspect of life and with the re-energising of the Track-Attack Club, it intends to play a positive role in providing activities that participants will have a positive impact on their general health and wellness levels.
Beat the Clock
The new plan kickstarts tomorrow, Thursday 28th November at 7.00pm with an event called Beat the Clock, sponsored by Dr Delargy/Morrissey GP Practice.
Participants have a choice of two distances namely 2km & 4km and they have been asked to predict their finishing time without the use of a timing device.
Entrants have been put onto teams and the winning team will be the one that finishes to their combined predicted time.
Entries are closed to be part of a team but if do not have entered and you’d like to participate, you are still welcome to come along and run or walk. The entry fee for participants is €5 for adults and €2 for Under 18s.

Track-Attackers on Tour
The summer months will see Track-Attackers take to the roads and take in some local races and some events that the club will be organising itself.
In an eight event tour, we intend to pick 4 races to attend as a group and we will name these as soon as the various athletics calendars are in place in January.
Following on from this, the club will be hosting a Monday night event in four different locations. First up will be Templederry, sponsored by Looby Tiles & Interiors. After that, it will be destination Kilcommon, with Next Generation Construction Ltd sponsoring this leg of the tour.
The rolling hills of Ileigh will be next over a brilliantly scenic route with Paul Boyle Window & Doors as sponsor. The final leg will head to the village of Drom with the sponsor being O’Connell’s Pharmacy.
Challenge Yourself
The new Track-Attack Fitness and Participation Plan is both ambitious and challenging but it equally achievable by one and all.
All you need to do is become a member of our club in January and let the challenge begin. You will be encouraged in a great atmosphere to reach them goals and once completed, you will rightfully feel a great level of achievement.
The hardest step in taking on a new challenge is the one going out the front door on any given night but regardless of the weather, it’s a step that’s never regretted once the challenge of that night is completed.
