Birdhill is to get new cycleways, with what Tipperary County Council says will be 'transformative' for the former National Tidy Towns winning village.

‘Transformative’ plan for Birdhill

A PLAN to transform the roadway running through the village of Birdhill was adopted by councillors at the November meeting of the Nenagh Municipal District.

Tipperary County Council says the scheme will deliver enhanced infrastructure that offers a safer environment for all road users, with particular benefits for pedestrians and cyclists.

Works will include the provision of a three-metre-wide shared pedestrian and cycle path, tying in with similar works on the upgraded road linking the village with Ballina.

A council spokesman said the works to be undertaken would be transformative for Birdhill.

District Cathaoirleach Fiona Bonfield said the works would be a gamechanger for Birdhill and Cllr John Carroll thanked the community for their very positive engagement.
