The first responders at their Nenagh meeting.

Seminar for first responder groups

Nenagh Order of Malta, Nenagh Red Cross and members of the Tipperary Civil Defence group (from Nenagh, Clonmel, Thurles, Roscrea and Birr Units) joined together recently for a Substance Use Seminar in Nenagh Arts Centre.

Hosted by Nenagh Order of Malta, the Community Gardaí Garda Maureen Finnerty, Garda Brian Mulcahy and Garda Ali O’ Connell presented a very informative piece on the drugs being circulated in our town and other communities.

We also discussed how we as first responders can help in situations where First Aid or lifesaving skills are required when drugs have been taken.

The talk was thoroughly enjoyed by all the groups, and we hope to work on more collaborative projects together on the future. Nenagh is very lucky in that it is one of the only towns in Ireland to have three fantastic and strong national first responder organisations fully active and ready to work in and with the community sharing the skills of First Aid.
