Nenagh band’s anniversary release
Nenagh band Jefl & Hyde will release a rearranged version of their popular hit 'Mithra-Grandchamp' this Friday, 15 years on from when it landed as one of the most talked-about local music recordings.
The band - John O'Duffy, Eoin Slattery, Finn McLoughlin and Liam Hayes - has now regrouped as Malbay, unintentionally forming in the summer of 2024. To mark 15 years since the release of the self-titled debut EP of Jefl & Hyde, the decision was made to rearrange and re-record the lead track from that record: 'Mithra-Grandchamp'. So fulfilling was the commemorative recording experience that a commitment was made to persevere with creating more music in the future.
'Mithra-Grandchamp' features guest lead vocals provided by longtime friend of the band, Molly Lynch. West End actress, singer and musician, Molly serendipitously performed at the 2009 Jefl & Hyde EP launch in Nenagh.
Recorded remotely in Dublin, Cork, London and Bristol, Malbay’s debut single 'Mithra-Grandchamp' will be released this Friday, December 20. It was produced and mixed by band member Liam Hayes (Assembly Line), and can be heard on Spotify.
