Challenges remain due to compacted snow and ice
Tipperary County Council’s Severe Weather Activation Team & Crisis Management Team convened this morning as significant challenges remain in Carrick on Suir, Clonmel, Tipperary Cahir Cashel, Thurles and Nenagh districts due to compacted snow and ice.
The Council has been focusing on clearing priority routes and ensuring access for essential life services such as electricity, water and emergency services, working closely with the HSE, ESB Networks and Uisce Éireann.
The Council is now concentrating its efforts on providing access to isolated communities and households. It has deployed additional resources, moving machinery and crews from across the county. The efforts are supported external contractors who have been tasked with clearing local and regional roads and removing snow.
Crews and contractors have been working throughout the day in the following areas:
Carrick on Suir Municipal District
High areas are compacted with ice and snow such as Ballingarry, Killenaule, Drangan
Clonmel Borough District
Works will continue on roads and footpaths at housing estates, schools, and businesses
Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District
High areas are compacted with ice and snow such as Hollyford and Glen of Aherlow and The Vee
Thurles Municipal District
Drombane, Upperchurch and Rossmore roads being cleared
Nenagh Municipal District

Tipperary County Council will continue to deploy its full resources to clear routes tomorrow and throughout the weekend.
With the rise in temperatures please take extreme caution as rain is now falling on roads and footpaths that are still frozen and compacted with ice and snow.
A Status Yellow Low Temperature warning remains in place for Tipperary until midday tomorrow. The freezing conditions could lead to hazardous driving conditions with sleet and snow possible on higher ground.
Temperatures will be slow to rise which means that lying snow and ice will continue to be an issue in parts of the county for several days.
