Over €20,000 raised from Christmas Day Charity Swim at Youghal Quay
The organisers of the annual Christmas Day Swim at Youghal Quay have this week reported another bumper package of donations for local worthy causes following the staging of the 2024 event.
At the fund presentation night in Reidy’s in Newtown last Saturday night, it was revealed that an impressive total of €20,080 had been generated from the staging of the recent swim.
The funds were divided equally among three worthy causes, the Nenagh Unit of the Order of Malta; the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit at Limerick University Maternity Hospital (NICU) and The A Team - the youth club for the autistic community in the Nenagh area.
A sum of €1,000 was also donated to the Youghalarra Senior Citizens Group.
One of the organisers, Tony O’ Flaherty, thanked all the swimmers and the groups and individuals who raised such an impressive sum of money.
The 2024 swim was one of the most successful in the 33 years the event has been organised. Since then, hundreds of thousands of euro have been donated to local worthy causes.
