Portroe’s big fundraiser beckons
On Friday week last, January 10, Portroe GAA Club officially launched its 2025 fundraiser ‘Quidgames’ in Seymour’s Bar, Portroe.
The launch was supported really well, with over 100 people dropping in at various stages during the night.
The Quidgames fundraiser is based on the Squid Game TV series, and sees a number of contestants compete to win a top prize, which in this instance is €10,000.
Any contestant entering must represent a charity or cause, with the proviso that should they win, then at least €7,000 will go to their chosen charity or cause.
The event will take place in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh, on Saturday, February 22, with an 8pm start time.
During the night the contestants will compete in up to six games onstage, with an overall winner being declared at the end of Game Six.
The games by their design are fun and more technique orientated, rather than fitness based, which means that “older, cuter contestants will have as good a chance of winning as younger fitter ones”.
In the region of 40 contestants have been signed up to date from both within the Portroe parish and further afield. The GAA club is hoping to increase this to 50 in the coming weeks.
Any contestant considering entering can get more information from 087 1972809 when the process can be explained in more detail.
The fundraising committee and our event management company will support each candidate fully by helping them with their fundraising activities, GoFundMe page, sponsorship options, etc.
Each contestant will be allocated to a contestant manager, who will work closely with each contestant on a regular basis and help them as required.
TICKETS
Tickets will be on sale from Friday, January 17, and can be purchased at a cost of €20 by contacting 087 2962854, 086 1005921, 087 2941959.
The event is expected to be a great night out for people from the parish and surrounding areas.
Sponsorship is being accepted for contestants, games and the event overall with a number of sponsor packages available, including having your company’s logo displayed on projector screens, social media formats and in the event programme on the night, complementary tickets etc.
Further information can be obtained from 087 1269772. The fundraising event is being run in an effort to allow the club to begin work on a dedicated GAA club carpark which will ease parking, improve safety and reduce the negative impact that GAA activities have on our neighbours in Ardarra during busy days in the field.
THANKS
Portroe wish to thank all contestants, sponsors and those that have donated so generously to our contestants’ GoFundMe page. As with all that happens in local communities, your support is vital. So, thank you.
