Council’s Crisis Management Team meets over Storm Éowyn
Tipperary County Council’s Crisis Management Team and Severe Weather
Activation Team met this morning to discuss Storm Éowyn Wind Warning
issued by Met Eireann.
A yellow wind warning remains in place until 4pm this afternoon and a
significant number of roads across the County (5 districts) are impassable
and the majority of these routes will be impassable due to fallen trees.
A full list of known and verified road closures per district is available on
your Council’s website. www.tipperarycoco.ie
Crews across our five municipal districts are in the process of assessing and
clearing roads blocked with fallen trees and other debris. The council crews
will prioritise works around any areas of danger to the public, acute
social/medical need and clearing our road network. Road clearing will
progress from National to Regional to Local routes in that priority.
The recovery work is likely to continue into early next week.
As Met Éireann has forecasted low temperatures for tonight, our salting
teams will mobilise this evening and a specific focus is therefore placed on
clearing these salted routes during the remaining daylight hours. This is
critical in order to allow these routes to be salted.
Under no circumstances should anyone attempt to use chainsaws and
approach fallen ESB lines.
