Nenagh actress Carolyn Bracken has been nominated for an IFTA award for her performance in horror film ‘Oddity’.

Carolyn (42) was last week announced among the Lead Actress - Film nominees for the 2025 Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) awards. She played the lead role in ‘Oddity’, a psychiatrist's wife (Dani), who is brutally murdered while renovating the couple's newly-acquired country house. A year later, Dani's twin sister Darcy, a blind clairvoyant with psychometric powers, tries to unearth what happened to her sister. A wooden mannequin from her cabinet of curiosities becomes crucial to her quest to uncover the truth about Dani's murder.

First taking to the stage as a child with the Nenagh Players, Carolyn comes from a local family steeped in the arts. She is a graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting.

Among her more recent screen appearances, Carolyn also played a central role in ‘The Gone’, a six-part thriller set in New Zealand.

Shot in Cork, ‘Oddity’ was written and directed by Damian McCarthy, who has been nominated for Best Director - Film in this year's IFTAs. Steve Wall is up for a Best Supporting Actor award, while the horror film's behind-the-scenes team of Aza Hand and Hugo Parvery are in line for an award in the Sound category.
