New use for Nenagh's former Iceland store
The owners of Nenagh Retail Park at Stereame have submitted a planning application for the unit formerly occupied by Iceland.
Located between Woodie's DIY and Aldi, the unit has remained vacant since it was vacated by Iceland Frozen Foods in 2023. Iceland was a convenience retail store that had been in operation since 2018.
The unit - No 7 - originally had planning permission for commercial use (bowling alley). Now Melcorpo Commercial Property Unlimited is seeking to change its use again from convenience retail foodstore to provide for bulky goods retail warehouse use with ancillary comparison sales space, dispensary and consult room. Permission for a number of development works is also sought.
In its correspondence with Tipperary Co Council, the applicant's agent stated that the proposal is being advanced for a specific end user - Chemist Warehouse, an established bulky goods operator trading from several established retail warehouse parks throughout Ireland, selling provision of large and bulk-type medical, disability, convalescence, sporting/rehabilitation aids, and home care, directly to the general public.
The council is to make a decision on the application by March 6 next.
