The muddiest 5k in the Midlands
Cancer Fund for Children are returning to Lough Boora Discovery Park, Co Offaly this March 23 for their annual bog run! Open to ages 8+, this is the perfect family day out and a great opportunity to take on a fun challenge with friends, colleagues or your local sports club.
The charity invites participants to climb, tackle and wade through 5k of muddy boglands at Lough Boora by while raising vital funds and awareness for children living with a cancer diagnosis.
Cancer Fund for Children provide vital services to children and young people (aged 0-24) diagnosed with cancer across the island of Ireland. Their team of Cancer Support Specialists provide informal emotional, social and therapeutic support to children living with a cancer diagnosis, as well as their parents and siblings. This can be provided at home, in hospital, in the community and at the charity’s therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge, in Newcastle Co. Down. Plans are also underway for the development of a second Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co. Mayo.
After the success of last year’s inaugural event, Cancer Fund for Children are promising this year’s Bog Run will be even bigger; and even boggier! “We are so excited to return to Lough Boora for Bog Run 2025!" said Sinead O’Malley, Events and Digital Fundraiser of Cancer Fund for Children. “The atmosphere at last year’s event was just amazing, and we can’t wait to welcome new and returning participants on March 23rd to have fun, get muddy and help raise awareness for children and young people.”
Lumcloon Energy and Halston Environmental & Planning have kindly returned as sponsors for Bog Run 2025. Speaking on this support, Nigel Reams of Lumcloon Energy said: “Lumcloon Energy and Halston Environmental & Planning are delighted to sponsor Bog Run for a second year.
