It was a momentous occasion for Lifelong Learning at the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh on December 3 where approximately 150 learners were celebrated at the Tipperary Education and Training Board (ETB) Awards Ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by groups from FET centres in Nenagh, Borrisoleigh, Borrisokane, Newport, Ballina, Rearcross, Thurles and Roscrea.
This special occasion was also attended by Tipperary ETB staff, its collaborating partners, as well as the tutors who supported these groups in achieving QQI Certification.
In her keynote opening address, the Chief Executive of Tipperary ETB, Bernadette Cullen, commended all the learners and their families and thanked the staff that supported them on their educational journey. Bernadette spoke of the dedication and perseverance of the learners who returned to the classroom to further their education.
The learner reflection was done by Sean Flaherty who also received a component certificate for Level 3 Internet Skills. Sean spoke about the benefit of the classes to Borrisokane Men’s Shed and the wider community.
“In these classes we have learned all about how to connect to family and friends via various methods of communication as well as a range of topics to help us understand technology and stay safe online,” Sean told the event
Roger Kennedy, Chairperson of Tipperary ETB, presented the awards to the learners.
The courses ranged from Level 1 to Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications.
Director of FET, Colin Cummins, gave the closing address, thanking all the staff for their hard work and commitment, and congratulated all the learners and their families, encouraging them to continue their education journey with Tipperary ETB.
