Kilbarron Terryglass Historical Society's next talk is on Friday, February 14, at 8pm, in Terryglass Hall.

The society will host Kieran Grace, Toomevara, who will speak on ‘The Land War in North Tipperary, 1879-1882’.

The period of political and social agitation in Ireland that lasted from 1879 to 1882 is known as 'The Land War.' The principal political organisation involved was the Land League.

This talk will explore the reasons for the Land War, specific incidents, why the Land League was slow to come to North Tipperary, the Ladies' Land League and the demise of the Land League. It will also look at the role of the Tipperary MP, John Dillon, in the setting up of the Land League in North Tipperary.
