A chance to win a cool €10k

Portroe Quid Gmes

Portroe GAA Club have been busy for the last few month organising their fundraising initiative for this year. Quid Games will be run in the Abbey Court Hotel on February 22.

Quid Games is a relatively new concept whereby contestants compete in a series of physical and technical games on stage with the last five games being elimination games. There will be a single winner at the end of the last game and that contestant wins a €10,000 top prize.

To be eligible to enter the competition each contestant must reach an €1,800 fundraising target ahead of the event, contestants must be playing on behalf of a charity or worthy cause and if they win their charity or cause will receive at least €7,000. The remaining €3,000 for the top prize may be kept by the contestant.

There are a number of financial targets for the contestants to aim for along the way, €1,800 allows you take part in the competition, €2,500 will see your charity receive €300 regardless of how the contestant performs in the event and the contestants with the highest amount of fundraising earned will be awarded golden tickets ensuring that they cannot be eliminated before the 3rd game.

The event was officially launched in Seymour’s Bar in Portroe on January 10 where contestants and the locals had a great night of chat and if the friendly rivalry that was evident that night is anything to go by then this is going to be a thoroughly enjoyable event with contestants and spectators alike contributing to the atmosphere.

Portroe Quid Games Committee would like to acknowledge each contestant on their coming forward to volunteer for this event. At the time of going to print we have in the region of 35 contestants who stood up and said they would do it. They then had to start on their fundraising journey to reach their target of €1,800 so fair play to our contestants.

We have set up a GoFundMe page for each of our contestants, please see the below link which allows you see what contestants are taking part, what charities/causes are represented and you can support the contestant or charity by hitting the donate button.
