Coffee morning success in Borrisokane

The Methodist Hall in Borrisokane was abuzz from early morning on November 15 as family and friends arrived to support the fundraising for Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Geraldine Duggan received her first Guide Dog in May 2024 and to celebrate a birthday she decided to organise ‘Paws for Tea with Ben and Ger’. Neighbours, friends and family came together to ensure that the day was a huge success. Ger would like to express gratitude to everyone who helped plan the event and to her neighbours in Borrisokane who ensured that there was a Ceád míle failte agus cupán tae and lots of delicious refreshments on the day. A huge thank you to Natalie, who represented Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind on the day and provided very sought after IGDB memorabilia and beautiful hampers.

A special word of thanks to Ger’s former colleagues in Borrisokane Community College and the Principal and staff of Borrisokane Community College, who held a coffee morning in the staffroom to support the fundraiser, and to the Transition Year students who helped with the hospitality on the day. The support of many businesses in providing raffle prizes and in assisting with the sale of calendars is greatly appreciated by the IGDB – Aldi Nenagh, Peter Ward - Country Choice, The Green Bar, Donal Leenane Butchers, Serena Hair Saloon, Enda & Helen Heenan, Cyril & Miriam Crawford, Michael & Maeve Collins Solicitors, Carmel’s Boutique, All Occasions Boutique Portumna, Eugene MacEntee Butchers Portumna, Supervalu Portumna. Sincere thanks to Rose Mannion, photographer, for her endless patience and to the Nenagh Guardian and Midland Tribune for their coverage. Also, my thanks to Robert Armitage and the Methodist Hall committee. A total of €4,300 was raised for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. Mbeirimid beo ag an am seo arís.
