Gleeson prepares for Snooker Euros

A young member of New Institute Snooker Club is set to compete in the Under 21 European Championships to be staged next month.

Noel Gleeson from Kiladangan, has been honing his skills since first joining the Nenagh club as a youngster several years ago.

Gleeson, from Urra, played a crucial role in the New Institute teams recent victories in the Munster and All-Ireland Championships in Killarney.

Despite being the youngest member of the team, he played a stunning match that secured a semi-final spot for the local club that went on to achieve national glory. The team also included Gleeson’s brother Mark, along with Player of the Tournament, Brendan O’Donoghue, Tommy Gleeson, and captain Mark Walsh.

Also a talented hurler and member of the Kiladangan club, Gleeson has taken a break from the sport to concentrate on snooker.

Despite sustaining a hand injury last year, the former Puckane National School and Nenagh CBS pupil is now back to his best and making final preparations as he puts his focus on the Europeans.
