Newport rise out of the relegation zone

Carew Park 0-6 Newport Town
Newport Town moved out of the relegation places for the first time this season when they beat bottom side Carew Park 6-0 on Sunday.
The visitors were out of the traps quickly with Christy Doyle opening the scoring within minutes. It was after the break before Newport added a second with Brian O’Sullivan obliging. Two goals in ten minutes saw Doyle complete his hat-trick while substitute Jamie Kavanagh got in on the act scoring the last two to complete the scoring.

Lawson Cup
Corbally United 2-0 Nenagh AFC
Nenagh AFC suffered a shock defeat in the prestigious Lawson Cup going down to Premier ‘A’ division side Corbally United, losing out a place in the quarter finals of the tournament.
Corbally have been motoring well in the Premier ‘A’ League so their confidence was high going into the action and they took the lead early on, Dave McGrath breaking through one-on-one with Nenagh keeper Moritz Kemme and he slotted the ball into the far corner.
There was little between the sides thereafter but with ten minutes remaining, a loose kick-out landed at the feet of Sean Connelly who punished the visitors by firing to the net.

Lower Leagues
In Division 1B, Nenagh AFC ‘B’ beat Meanus 4-0. Alan Kelly opened the scoring and Joey McLoughlin tacked on a second before a Dylan Kennedy double completed the scoring. In the same division, Newport Town ‘B’ suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to bottom side Kilfrush.
In the Open Cup, Brendan McMahon was on the mark for Newport Town ‘C’ but they fell 2-1 to Fairview Rangers ‘C’ thanks to a Kyle Brogan double.
