Nenagh Youth Theatre take to stage
Nenagh Youth Theatre is proud to present DNA by Dennis Kelly at Nenagh Arts Centre on March 30 at 8pm. This intense and gripping play explores the complexities of friendship, morality, and responsibility as a group of teenagers faces the dangerous consequences of a decision gone wrong. With raw and emotionally charged performances, DNA challenges its audience to confront the moral dilemmas, peer pressure, and emotional weight of taking responsibility for one’s actions.
Directed by Calvin Magee, a theatre director widely respected for his work with young people and diverse communities, DNA benefits from his signature style of ensemble work and physical storytelling. Known for his ability to explore real-life issues through bold, visceral performances, Magee tackles complex social and personal themes in a way that is both accessible and thought-provoking. He is currently the Theatre-Maker in Residence at An Táin Arts Centre. “The cast and crew have worked tirelessly over the last number of weeks in preparation for this play,” says Magee. “DNA is a story that really holds a mirror up to society, forcing us to question our own morality and the impact that the decisions we make have on ourselves and others. It’s a play that challenges us to look deeper at how we navigate our relationships, our responsibilities, and the consequences of our choices.”
The cast includes local young actors Matthew Ryan, Chloe Ryan, Eile Simpson, Brendan Ryan, Kaitlyn O'Grady, Richard De Bruin, Alannah Peters, Lily Rose McAuley, Moya Ryan, Ellie Chadwick, and Grace O'Brien. The production team features assistant director, Gerry Ball, production assistant, Cliodhna O'Grady, and technical assistant, Gareth Tuite.
This performance is brought to you by Nenagh Arts Centre and Nenagh Youth Theatre, the in-residence youth theatre at Nenagh Arts Centre.
