Tributes paid to council director on her retirement

Fullsome tributes were paid at the March meeting of Tipperary County Council in Nenagh to the local authority’s Director of Planning and Development, Sharon Kennedy, who has announced her retirement.

CEO of the council, Sinéad Carr, said Ms Kennedy, who lives in Coolbawn, was an extremely loyal colleague who had a keen understanding of the difficulties elected councillors faced in their roles as public respresentatives.

“Sharon will be a huge loss to this organisation. She has given huge service and dedication to the council,” said Ms Carr.

Cllr Morris said Ms Kennedy’s family had given great service to local government. Many other councillors also paid tribute to Ms Kennedy for her contribution.

Ms Kennedy is a sister of former council CEO, Joe MacGrath, who retired last summer and of the late Judge Elizabeth MacGrath whose untimely death occurred last July.
