Author Donal Ryan returns to his alma mater
Fifth Year students at Nenagh CBS were treated to a master class in the writing process by celebrated author and past student of the school, Donal Ryan. Donal holds a degree in law from the University of Limerick where he now lectures in Creative Writing.
Writer Donal Ryan spoke to the Fifth Year cohort about his experiences as a writer, his work and the value of reading. It was a highly enjoyable, enlightening experience for the students. Students asked questions relating to the writing process, his time in the CBS and how teenagers should go about rekindling a love of reading in the ‘Q & A’ session after the talk.
English teacher, Ms Alison Collins presented writer Donal Ryan with a small token of appreciation on behalf of St Joseph’s CBS for taking time out of his busy writing and academic schedule to speak to the Fifth Year student body. Donal very generously presented the school with a signed collection of his written work, which will be treasured by the school.
