Public urged to support Daffodil Day

People are urged to donate via cancer.ie, on the Revolut app or to make a donation via collections on street and in shopping centres nationwide.

This is the Irish Cancer Society’s most important Daffodil Day yet and we are asking Ireland to go all in to support cancer patients and their families across the country.

We typically only receive 5% of our funding from the Government, so we need to raise €30 million to provide our key support services and fund our life-changing cancer research, this is powered by the generosity of the public. We want to be there to ensure nobody has to face cancer alone.

Demand for Irish Cancer Society services increased significantly last year.

Last year, The Irish Cancer Society Transport Service, which brings patients to and from cancer treatment across the country, saw a 20% increase in bookings. Our free nationwide counselling service saw an increase of 8% to over 16,000 sessions. And our Freephone Support Line, which provides confidential advice, support and information for anyone affected by cancer, also saw an 8% increase in contacts to 10,700. While a further 17,300 conversations took place in the Society’s Daffodil Centres nationwide. Over 6,000 nights of palliative nursing care / end-of-life care were given to over 1,700 patients.
