Appeal over Nenagh family in Tenerife
A fundraising appeal has been launched after a Nenagh woman was hospitalised while on holiday in Tenerife.
Lorraine Cummins (49) from Cormack Drive was on holiday on the Canary Island with friends when she became ill. She was taken to hospital and treated for a brain aneurysm. She is now recovering but will have to remain in hospital for several weeks.
Her friend back home, Lisa Gleeson from Portroe, decided to launch a fundraiser so that Lorraine's three sons - Kevin, Oisín and Cian, who have travelled out to Tenerife - can remain with their mother while she recovers. She passed on the sons' gratitude.
“They are truly grateful, as are the family,” Lisa wrote on Facebook. “The money raised has been amazing and has got them an apartment near the hospital where their mother is for three weeks.
“The doctors have said they are looking at being there for at least 10 weeks. There is some good signs from Lorraine when she wakes up but they put her back into the coma so she can rest her brain.”
Lisa said anyone who wants to donate can contact her on 0863958649 and pay by Revolut or cash.
Responding to local requests, she has now also set up a GoFundMe page for people to donate money. You can access the page here
