Borrisokane Community College hosts inaugural golf classic

Borrisokane Community College is delighted to announce its first-ever golf classic, a fundraising initiative organised by the Borrisokane Community College Parents Association. This exciting event will take place at the prestigious Birr Golf Club on Friday, May 23.

Founded in 1893, Birr Golf Club is renowned for its challenging and scenic course, making it the perfect venue for this special occasion. The 18-hole course, originally part of the Earl of Rosse’s estate, spans 6,357 yards with a par and standard scratch of 70. Its undulating fairways and natural terrain promise an exceptional golfing experience for all participants.

This inaugural golf classic represents a milestone in the school’s fundraising efforts, showcasing the dedication of the new leadership team to enhancing educational opportunities for students. The event aims to generate funds for essential school facilities and resources, benefiting the college’s growing student body of over 700 pupils, including three specialised ASD classes.

“We’re thrilled to bring the community together for this fantastic event,” says Borrisokane Community College Principal, Paula Molloy. “The golf classic not only provides an opportunity to raise much-needed funds for our school but also fosters strong community connections.”

Organisers are currently seeking sponsorship from local businesses, offering Tee box sponsorship: €100; Team entry (includes a meal): €200; Tee box and team combination: €250.

Deputy Principal Caitríona Maher adds: “We’ve already seen great support from the local community, and we welcome more businesses and individuals who share our commitment to educational excellence.”

Event Highlights: 18-hole tournament, team prizes, sponsorship opportunities, prize-giving ceremony.
