Successful Diving Ireland event in Nenagh
Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in the hugely successful Diving Ireland Expo in Nenagh last weekend.
The event, which took place in the Abbey Court Hotel on Saturday and Sunday, was attended by visitors from all over Ireland and abroad. They came to Nenagh for the annual conferences of Diving Ireland, the national governing body for recreational underwater sports in this country.
There was also a series of public talks that drew large crowds. Among the biggest attendances was Tahlia Britton's talk on becoming Ireland's first female member of the Navy diving unit. Barry McGill's talk on discovering and photographing shipwrecks also saw a packed-out attendance.
Visitors also enjoyed perusing trade and craft stands throughout the weekend, as well as a new underwater photography exhibition and a raffle with a huge amount of prizes won.
The event brought significant footfall and business to the Nenagh area, with visitors staying in accommodation all over the town and hinterland, and availing of local shops, restaurants and pubs. The feedback on the welcome and general experience of Nenagh was very positive. Several other local businesses enjoyed spin-off trade by supplying material and services for the event.
Having won the tender to host Diving Ireland Expo this year - and again in 2026 - Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club would like to thank everyone involved, in particular all of our sponsors. Your support is very much appreciated. Thanks also to local TD Ryan O'Meara for formally opening the event on Saturday, and of course to the management and staff of the Abbey Court Hotel, who did a tremendous job in facilitating this major event. Here's to doing it all over again next year!
