Woman from Roscrea to run marathon for hospice
In just over a week's time time, on April 13, a young Roscrea woman will run her very first marathon through the streets of the French capital, Paris.
Born near Mountheaton, Shauna Fitzgerald is regularly seen pounding the roads over the last few months as she prepares for her big day.
A member of Ballyskenagh Athletic Club, Shauna has steadily built up her running distances.
Having already completed 5K, 10K and half marathons, it was always Shauna’s goal to one day realise her dream of running a full marathon.
She also made the unselfish decision to raise money for a local charity and we at Roscrea Hospice Fundraising Committee are delighted that she chose our cause.
It is Shauna’s wish that all money she raises will be spent on Hospice services in the Roscrea area.
With the recent purchase of a house in Roscrea by North Tipperary Hospice, the amount raised by Shauna will be extremely useful.
To sponsor Shauna you can contact any member of the committee of Roscrea Hospice Fundraising or call to Frawley’s Chemist on Main St, Roscrea, where Shauna works as a Pharmacy Technician.
Her family, friends, work colleagues and the Hospice community want to wish her the very best of luck in Paris. Well done, Shauna and Thank You.
