A great addition to Ballina's Riverside Park where works are near completion.

Ballina walkway nears completion

The new walkway connecting Ballina Riverside Park with the town is almost complete.

The development involves a walkway ramp with steps and a viewing platform on top, providing a conduit between the areas north and south of the Ballina-Killaloe bridge.

The walkway is to feature six level platforms named after the old Limerick rail line that once terminated in Ballina, stopping at Killonan, Lisnagry, Castleconnell and Birdhill. The heritage connection will also be reflected in a sheet metal silhouette of a steam train, which would have been used on this line.
