Tipperary manager Denis Kelly was delighted with his sides victory over Limerick in the Munster Senior Camogie quarter final.
However, the Borris-Ileigh based teacher knows there is also plenty of room for improvement ahead of Sunday’s semi-final against Waterford.
“It was great to get the win, and it was nice to get a few goals too,” he began.
“We would have probably liked to get a few more points, but I felt the game was a bit stop-start, and that prevented us from getting into our full flow, but it was nice to get the win, before Waterford next weekend.
“There have been a few ding dong battles with Waterford over the last few years, with very little in it every time.
“We have a bit of work to do during the week, to get ready for that but there is a place in the Munster final up for grabs, and that’s a great incentive for the girls, so hopefully we can have a good go at that.”
The Toomevara native was also delighted with the impact his subs bench made and with the depth to the panel available for the challenges ahead.
“There’s going to be good fighting for positions,” he added.
“Some of the subs came on and played great, so we have a lot to think about over the next while. It’s great to have the panel, because it puts pressure on the starters to perform every day, they go out, so it’s a great position to be in.”
Kelly knows there is still a lot of work to be done going forward, but is confident his team will improve, and is also very happy with the effort currently been put in.
“We have to bring more energy,” he pointed.
“I felt in the first half we lacked energy at times, so we have to make sure we bring that all the time. We would also like to add a lot more points to the scoreboard, there’s a few bits and pieces like that we need to improve on, but in general the girls are training really well.
“It’s good to get the win, and now we can drive on for next weekend.”
And next Sunday will be a tough encounter, against a Waterford side of which Tipperary have been developing an intense rivalry in recent years and it promises to be another cracking game between the two.
