Free saxophone workshop with legendary Richie Buckley

Music Generation Tipperary are delighted to announce that they will be hosting a special free workshop with internationally renowned saxophonist Richie Buckley to celebrate World Sax Day on November 7th. This workshop will be aimed at intermediate grade players in Co Tipperary under the age of 18 years.

Speaking about the event, Music Generation Tipperary Development Officer Aidan O’Donnell said: “This is a great opportunity for young saxophonists in Co Tipperary to access a class with one of Ireland’s top musicians. Richie has played with everyone from Van Morrison to Mark Black, and is regarded internationally as a top player. The class will cover some history of the instrument, as well as covering some tips from Richie on elements of technique and repertoire. It’s a unique opportunity for young people locally, and hopefully people will snap up this chance to learn from one of the best.

This is the latest in a series of workshops from Music Generation Tipperary over the year, offering young people a chance to engage with top professionals. A spokesperson said: “We feel that it is so important that young people continue to have access to high quality performance music education during everything that has been going on with Covid-19. Music, and the arts generally, are part of the social fabric of the country, and we hope that by offering these opportunities that we can continue to provide young people with the encouragement to keep making music, and to develop their sonic identities.”
