GAA: Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Quarter Final

Kiladangan 1-22

Kilruane MacDonaghs 2-16

Report: Shane Brophy in Nenagh

Kilruane MacDonaghs hold on the Frank McGrath Cup ended at the hands of great rivals Kiladangan on Saturday but they hope they haven't been hit on the double through injury as they look ahead to a County quarter final next month.

In what was seen as the clash of the titans in this North quarter finals, the game itself failed to live up to the billing with Kiladangan in control for long spells with Kilruane making a late burst which proved in vain to hold onto their title.

With both sides already through to the county quarter final, one wondered how important another North title would be for them considering they have both tasted success in it in recent years, however, with the county itch still to be scratched.

It was still hugely competitive as all games between these sides tend to be but the knockout edge wasn't there and you could see Kilruane with one eye looking ahead when calling ashore both Jerome Cahill and Darragh Peters through injury either time of half time.

Kiladangan weren't left without a scar either with Joe Gallagher lasting just twelve minutes before being replaced and with their Intermediate team in championship action, had to go the rest of the way unchanged.
