Ormond give up winning position to fast finishing Cashel

Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup 1st Round

Nenagh Ormond hosted Tipperary neighbours Cashel in the first round of the Munster Senior Cup in Lisatunny last Friday, and in an entertaining match that produced five tries, the visiting team finished the stronger and progress to the next stage of the competition.

Matches between these two teams always have a derby feel and their previous meeting in last year’s AIL resulted in a draw and arguably kick-started Nenagh’s late resurgence in that competition.

Conditions were perfect with little or no wind and a decent crowd added to the atmosphere.

Nenagh welcomed back Clayton Stewart at out-half having his first start in the Ormond colours since the season before last. His inclusion resulted in Josh Rowling moving to full-back. Also returning to the team were Kevin O’Gorman and John Coffey who had both missed the previous match in the Limerick Charity Cup.
