The highest concentration in the county was recorded in the Carrigatoher Electoral District.

Almost 100 cases of Covid-19 in Nenagh

Nenagh had 93 confirmed cases of Covid-19 between its three electoral districts by the middle of June, while Roscrea was harder hit with some 162 cases, according to statistics provided by the HSE and Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

The recorded figure of confirmed cases in the Nenagh West Urban ED as of June 12th stood at 57. There were 25 confirmed cases in Nenagh East Urban ED and 11 in the Nenagh Rural district, representing a combined total of 93 cases in a population of 10,256.

Just outside the town, the highest concentration in the county was recorded in the Carrigatoher ED with 28 cases in a population of 702 - representing 3,988 cases per 100,000. The figure for Roscrea ED, with a population of 6,305, stood at 162 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Nearby Shinrone also had a high number of cases at 45. Elsewhere, a relatively low number of 15 was recorded in Ballina but there were 58 confirmed cases in the neighbouring district of Killaloe.

According to the statistics, Crossalare, an isolated rural area of Co Monaghan, had recorded the highest concentration of Covid-19 cases per head of population in the Republic, with 82 confirmed cases in the population of 756. The figures are based on cumulative cases to date (total confirmed). The HPSC and HSE advise that a high proportion of such cases will have fully recovered within a 14-day period. They also note that for a proportion of notified Covid-19 cases, their location on the map may reflect their place of work rather than their home address.

Last week two new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Tipperary, the first increase in the county total in a fortnight. There have been none since. As of June 28th, the number of confirmed cases in the county stood at at 543.
