In true Toomevara spirit, when their backs were to the wall they came out fighting in defeating Clonoulty/Rossmore on Sunday evening to book their place in the knockout stages of the County Senior Hurling Championship.

It was literally knockout hurling for Toomevara as anything other than a win and the greyhounds race would have been run for another year, and with the fear of no tomorrow they produced a controlled performance which the final scoreline doesn't reflect as it was only a late rally from Clonoulty that provided for some nervy moments for Toome supporters as an eight point lead was whittled down to two before Kevin Jordan's final whistle sounded ten minutes into added time.

The return of Joey McLoughney from injury was a massive fill-up for Toomevara where he, Jason Ryan and Luke Ryan were strong in the half back line, particularly in the first half which laid the platform for the victory, leading 1-12 to 0-8.
