Hogan continues Purple Patch with Clonmel victory

CREPELLO

The winners continue to flow for the Denis Hogan stable with Generation the latest to step into the limelight when he recorded an exciting success in the featured Captain Christy Rated Novice Chase over three miles at Clonmel on Thursday, taking plenty of money out of the ring in the process.

With jockey Paul Cawley claiming a valuable 7lb riding allowance, the Primary gelding was ahead from the drop of the flag but looked vulnerable when he was headed on the downhill run to the straight, however, he responded well to the urgings of Cawley to regain the advantage after the last fence and in a hectic scramble to the line prevailed by half a length from the favourite Minella Times who was just a head in front of Demi Pile in third place.

This was a teak tough display by the winner who according to Hogan is not a quick horse but stays all day. The trainer further added that the ground was on the dead side for his charge and he will now be put away until the spring when he should have conditions much more to his liking.
