Sunday 20th October
Throw-in @ 12.00pm (E.T.)
Referee: TP Sullivan (Nenagh Eire Og)

The Tipperary Senior Camogie Championship final between Burgess/Duharra and Drom & Inch which was due to take place last Saturday, was postponed due to a bereavement related to the Drom & Inch club.

The game has been refixed for this Sunday 20th October at 12.00pm at the County Camogie grounds with extra time to be played in the event of a draw as the winners will have to be ready for a Munster semi-final the following weekend.

Both sides have had an extra week to get in some late training in preparation for the showdown that sees Burgess/Duharra going for their record breaking eighth title in a row, while Drom & Inch will be chasing their first since 2011.

Founded in 2009, Burgess/Duharra who are a combination of Burgess and Portroe, won their first senior title back in 2010. They now attempt to win their ninth title.

Gemma Grace represents the club on the Tipperary senior panel while Ciara Holohan, Ciara McKeogh and Jenny Grace were all members of the county Intermediate panel who won the National League Division 2 title in the past year. Emily Morrissey and Katie Grace have played with the Tipp minor panel throughout the All Ireland campaign also.

Their opponents Drom & Inch has a long standing tradition of camogie since being formed in 1967. They made their first breakthrough in 1974 when they won the senior title. They repeated that success again in ’75 & ’76 and 1982. They had to wait until 2003 to win their fifth title and the following year, Joanne Ryan captained Tipperary to Munster, National league and All Ireland Senior Championship success.

Drom came back with the senior title in 2008 and topped the year by clinching their first ever Munster title but were beaten in the All Ireland final by the O’Donovan Rossa from Antrim. Drom had to wait three years to win their seventh senior title followed by their second Munster title. Oulart the Ballagh of Wexford beat them in the All Ireland final which took place in Croke Park.

Drom & Inch are well represented with the county teams at all grades and this year Niamh Treacy was crowned Intermediate player of the league while goalkeeper Caoimhe Bourke is nominated for an All Star award this Saturday. Drom are hoping to break the eight year hiatus and win back the senior crown for the eighth time in the club’s history.
