Gardai make arrests during Covid patrols
Gardai patrolling the Nenagh district to ensure that people are abiding by the Covid-19 restrictions have made several arrests.
In one incident last Monday, gardaí encountered a vehicle at the Barack Obama Plaza, Moneygall, whose occupants said they were travelling from Dublin to Limerick to buy a scooter. They were directed to turn around and go back to Dublin.
Gardaí set up a checkpoint in Nenagh last Thursday to ascertain whether motorists were complying with the Covid-19 directions. A male was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He was processed at Nenagh Garda Station and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
Another male motorist was arrested on suspicion of drink driving at Sallygrove, Nenagh, on Friday. A further drink driving arrest was made at Carrig Rua, Nenagh, last Monday after gardaí observed a male motorist driving erratically.
Gardaí are reiterating their warning to dog owners following another reported attack, this time involving a woman walking her dog at Dromin Road, Nenagh. There have been several similar incidents in the district over recent weeks. Action will be taken where owners are found to be at fault.
An attempted theft of property from Nenagh hospital over the weekend is under investigation. It is understood that a number of individuals attempted to steal containers from the site. Gardaí are examining CCTV footage of the area.
The catalytic converter was stolen from a car at Busherstown, Moneygall, overnight between Monday and Tuesday of last week, April 13th and 14th. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who might have witnessed anything unusual in the area at the time to come forward. Farming equipment was stolen from a yard at Bawn, Nenagh, overnight between Sunday and Monday last. Some of the items were located a short distance away. Gardaí are continuing to investigate.
A male was arrested in relation to assault and criminal damage offences following an incident at Capparoe last Friday at 7pm.
Several arrests under the Public Order Act have been made in recent days. One male was arrested twice in the space of two days in Nenagh. One of the offences occurred at Kickham St at 2pm last Thursday. The same individual was arrested at Pearse St at 1.30pm on Saturday.
Another male was arrested for public disorder at Millersbrook, Nenagh, at 4am on Saturday, while gardaí arrested another man in relation to a similar offence on Pearse St at 5am last Sunday.
