Nenagh Eire Og saw off a stern Roscrea challenge to book their spot in the North Tipperary Junior ‘A’ hurling championship decider on Friday evening.
Played in virtually monsoon conditions, both sides gave their all in what proved an absorbing encounter with the ‘Blues’ deservedly emerging victorious but must now plan without goalkeeper Mark Tuite for the final after he was shown a straight red by referee Peter Carroll on the stroke of full-time following a goalmouth incident.
Despite the gloomy conditions, Nenagh started brightly with full-forward Anthony Walsh bagging a tenth minute goal to propel his side into a 1-2 to 0-2 advantage. Walsh quickly added a point seconds later before Roscrea drafted in Keith McMahon off the bench in a bid to curb his growing influence.
