Horse Racing Ireland to host Career Information Day
Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) will host an information day for post-primary level students on Wednesday November 22 at Naas Racecourse, as part of College Awareness Week, a national campaign that advocates students to have a plan for when they finish school, to help students of all ages to become college-ready and to showcase local role models.
Students will get to meet with professionals from different areas of the equine industry, including a jockey, trainer, racecourse manager, farrier and RACE (Racing Academy and Centre of Education). Participants will also meet representatives from a number of the Third Level Institutions that run equine-related courses, these will include UCD, NUIM, UL, CAFRE, Grennan College, Teagasc, and the Curragh PPS among others.
Paddy Ryan, Careers and Racing Education Department, HRI, said: “CARE is delighted to support College Awareness Week and to use this opportunity to be able to highlight just some of the roles that are available within the equine industry. It is a vibrant, exciting industry and this information day allows us to promote the range of equine courses that are available all over Ireland and to put interested students in touch with the people who are delivering these courses.”
The event is free of charge, however students, or teachers, must register in advance by email to workinracing@hri.ie or phone 045 455488.
