Sheedy focused on semi-final opportunity
At the start of the summer, anyone involved in Tipperary hurling would have gladly taken being in an All Ireland semi-final on the last Sunday in July, no matter how it was achieved.
The shine of the four wins in the round-robin phase in Munster has disappeared following the defeat to Limerick in the provincial final and the less than convincing All Ireland quarter final win over Laois.
However, Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy feels his team have refocused over the last two weeks and will produce a big performance against Wexford on Sunday.
“I sat here before the Cork match and we were going out to play the Munster champions in the first round of the championship. We knew that we would have to bring a performance and the lads knew that they would have to bring a performance. And, they brought a massive performance,” he began.
“So, now we find ourselves facing into the Leinster champions and, likewise, we have to bring a massive performance. If we don’t we will come up short. But I think that I have seen enough from this dressing room that they are really, really focused on bringing the absolute best performance that they can bring as a group on Sunday.
“I know exactly what we are facing into and that’s what we all signed up for - days like next Sunday; there will be a wonderful atmosphere there. We will know who has already gone through from Saturday evening in the game between Limerick and Kilkenny. So, for us it is a massive, massive opportunity for this group to go and get themselves back into an All-Ireland final.”
