Toomevara go for Munster Intermediate glory this Saturday but face a major challenge from Waterford senior champions Gailtir in the provincial final.

Toomevara is a very long established club having commenced playing in the 1930’s. They have achieved much success down through the years including representing Tipperary in the Tailteann Games in 1932. Like so many more, the club folded for a number of years before reforming in 1975 and since then they have experienced success at all grades, notably winning seven senior county titles, a National Feile final in 1989, Munster title in 1995 and two Kilmacud All Ireland 7’s in 1999 and 2010.

Club players have represented Tipperary at all grades, most notably Team of the Century member Deirdre Hughes. Toomevara are creeping back up to senior after a short number of years in the wilderness with back to back junior & intermediate successes last year and this year.

Their manager is Conor O’Sullivan and he was happy with the way the side played in the county final win over Thurles Sarsfields when underdogs. However, the Lorrha native knows that the next day out will be a much stiffer test against Gailtir of Waterford.
“‘The Munster final is a massive step up in pace and standard and we are just delighted to be there against a team of Gailtir's ability,” he said.
