Ballymackey and Killavilla set up Junior Cup playoff

SOCCER: North Tipperary & District League Review

There were only two games in North Tipperary at the weekend, both Munster Junior Cup ties.

In a replay of the recent Barry Cup final, Ballymackey saw off Cloughjordan 5-2 in Ballinree on Sunday.

Aiden White put on another excellent scoring performance here with Denis Haverty, John O’Connor and Sieed Ryan also finding the net.

Ger Hogan’s side are now one game away from the open draw where they would be drawn against the cream of the crop in Munster Junior football.

A disappointing end for Cloughjordan to what was an otherwise excellent season, they won the Division 1 title at a canter and contested the Barry Cup final while also taking a couple of top division scalps in the cup competitions. They look well placed to compete in the Premier division next year alongside Ballymackey who have also secured promotion.

Meeting Ballymackey in the area final will be Killavilla United, who somewhat avenged their recent title defeat with a 2-1 win away to Nenagh Celtic on Sunday.
