It was always likely to prove a difficult assignment for a tender-aged Templemore team, and the signs were ominous from an early stage in the Munster Club Intermediate Ladies Football final on Saturday.

Largely forced to fight a rearguard action in the first half, they failed to register a score before the break, although, on the face of it, they were still in with a shout when they turned over just five points in arrears.

There was to be no significant change in the pattern of the play on the resumption, however, with Cork kingpins Inch Rovers stretching the gap to nine points before substitute Neassa Towey finally broke Templemore’s duck in the 49th minute.
