Bobble hat record attempt moved to templemore
An attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the most amount of people wearing bobble hats in one place at one time in Nenagh last Sunday was unsuccessful.
Edel Grace of the 'Save Keeper Hill' campaign was hoping to gather 800 people wearing bobble hats at Brickfields. Another attempt will be held this Saturday, April 18th, at Templemore Town Park at 3pm.
'A lovely bunch of supporters turned out at Nenagh AFC Brickfields last Sunday despite a truly wintery morning,' Ms Grace said.
'Heavy rain meant a change of plan for the day and the event had to be scaled back. Nonetheless, fun and games were had, prizes were won and everyone was enthralled by the stunning display of birds of prey by Denis of Animal Magic Rescue. The crossbar challenge was one highlight of the day with lucky Theresa King going on to win a beautiful bicycle.
'We did not manage to set a new record but the level of support displayed on the day was heartening. We would like to thank everyone who came out to support the Save Keeper Campaign, all the local businesses who sponsored prizes, and Nenagh AFC, who generously hosted us. Who knows, we may try it again next year.'
Ms Grace is campaigning against a plan to build 16 150m wind turbines on Keeper. She is presently attending a High Court hearing on the matter. Further information can be found on the Save Keeper Hill Facebook page.
