Great support for Shinrone NS 'Sponsor a Sod' fundraiser
The community of Shinrone NS were very excited to officially launch our fundraiser 'Sponsor a Sod' on Tuesday, October 15th.
In the afternoon all the children kick-started the celebrations in the school by dressing up in their overalls and wellies and helping us "turn the sod" on the pitch adjoining our new field. There was great excitement with lots of photos taken to mark this day which is a very historic occasion for Shinrone NS. All the children were treated to 'sods/ brownies', which were made by the children themselves.
Later on, a wonderful crowd gathered for the evening launch where a special cake was cut to mark the occasion. All present were treated to a video especially created by the children highlighting their hopes and dreams for our new field. This video and other clips can be seen on Facebook. Please like and share our page, scoilnaisiuntasuianroin.
A worthwhile discussion took place where the finer details were finalised. Everyone felt enthused and energised as they left. People will be calling door to door over the coming weeks to offer the community the chance to support our school in this important venture. We are appealing to all past pupils and friends of our school to help us secure a better future for generations of children by helping us by sponsoring a sod for €100. In return you will have your family name acknowledged on a special wall at the school. This unique opportunity will allow you to have your name permanently marked in the history of the school. This would be an ideal Christmas gift for a loved one or indeed a fitting memorial for a deceased member of your family. All those who sponsor a sod will have their names entered into a raffle for prizes of €1,000, €750 and €500 respectively. Sods can be purchased in the following ways: cash , cheque, standing orders and Paypal.
