Festive gesture for children’s charity
STAFF members, management and friends at Nenagh factory Carey Glass International have combined to collect a huge array of goodies for vulnerable children's charity Barnardos this Christmas.
The collection built on a similar initiative last year in support of homelessness charity Novas, which created a real feelgood factor in the factory, where around 400 people are employed.
This Christmas they decided to do it for Barnardos, and all were amazed at the response, with a huge amount of toys and food gathered for children in need, along with over €1,000 worth of gift vouchers.
Management and staff of the factory along with family and friends contributed, and several pallets were loaded up and collected at the factory last Friday for distribution to local children in need.
Barnardos presently works with around 160 children between Nenagh, Thurles and Templemore, and they will all benefit from the Carey collection this Christmas.
Barnardos’ mission is to deliver services and work with families, communities, and their partners to transform the lives of vulnerable children who are affected by adverse childhood experiences. Barnardos’ vision is a country where every child can reach their full potential. The charity seeks to provide services for and promote and advance the welfare of children, young people and their families whose lives have been affected by economic, social or other disadvantage or loss.
The organisers of the collection at Careys’ said it exceeded all expectations and wanted to warmly thank everyone who supported the cause. Well done, everyone!
